Welcome to My Favourite Things! All about life’s little comforts and luxuries.

Pizza is one of my favourite indulgences, and I have been known to travel far and wide in pursuit of the perfect pizza, especially as I love to dine out and try new cuisines and find hidden gems. Proud foody here! Sadly, wandering around and exploring different places to eat is not possible during lockdown; fortunately, ordering food online has never been so simple. I particularly like to treat myself to a takeaway on Friday or Saturday - sometimes both! Don't judge! Ha! This sits comfortably under my food budget or guilt-free spending. Some foods tend to be hit and miss when ordering online, but I usually find pizza to be fairly consistent.

Whilst scrolling on Instagram - join me @beyourowndate - I recently came across a new pizza place located in Watford, Hertfordshire: The Loading Bay. I believe this venture is part of the Flourish Bakery, which I have been meaning to visit for quite some time. They have a great selection of pizza, including vegan and vegetarian, plus lots of meat options too. I'm trying not to consume too much dairy at the moment, so I went for the simple, classic marinara. Think tomato sauce, oregano garlic, basil, extra virgin olive oil and no cheese - all on a sourdough base.

What makes a good pizza?

For me, it's all about a crust with a little crunch, no soggy middle, complete with a few yummy toppings. Well, this had all three and certainly didn’t disappoint! And as it's quite light to eat, I didn't feel bloated afterwards, so it feels kind to my stomach too.

How do you like to treat yourself on the weekend? What's your favourite pizza place and toppings? Let me know in the Comments section below or connect with me on your socials.

So, if you're in Watford and fancy a delicious pizza, made with fresh ingredients, I highly recommend The Loading Bay.

I don't usually order dessert with my takeaway, but I also tried the rocky road slice, it would have been rude not to! If this is too much for you, I would also recommend the aero mint slice. This is not something that I'd typically go for, but I was pleasantly surprised.
