Let’s Talk: How To Be Your Own Date

I have something different to share with you this week: a video of a fun conversation that I had with Oby Bamidele about the meaning behind Be Your Own Date.

Stepping outside of your comfort zone

Yesterday, I took part in my first Instagram Live - a real milestone for me! I was a little nervous at first, just before we went live, but am so glad I did it! Inspired by this very blog, we talked about ‘How to Be Your Own Date’. For me, it’s a journey…being comfortable in my own skin; prioritising my self-care and wellbeing; trying new things on my own; and not letting fear hold me back from pursuing the things that I enjoy doing. If this has piqued your interest, you can watch the full video on my Instagram here. I hope that what we talked about resonates with you and that you can draw some inspiration from it. We shared some of our personal experiences and how they have been shaped by our upbringings, we giggled, and we talked about how to encourage you to 'be true to yourself'. What's really exciting though, is how the concept of Be Your Own Date empowers people differently, so I thoroughly enjoyed chatting and reflecting on the various ways that it can be interpreted.

I firmly believe that it is important to forge a space for these types of meaningful, engaging and fun conversations so that we can hear different voices and opinions, even if they may differ from our own. To be seen, to be heard, to be creative. Wow! It feels soooo good to put myself out there and to share my ideas, spurring me on to continue sharing feel good content with you. It was a very positive experience and I encourage you to try something new and to step outside of YOUR comfort zone. Need some motivation? I got you! Watch the video now (and again later) - simply put some time aside, along with your favourite cuppa, and enjoy!
